Brown arrived as chief editor in 1965 and set her readership target as single women and created the ‘Cosmo’ girl. The Cosmopolitan cover format typically consist of a young female celebrity or model in revealing outfit.
With the new direction as a magazine for modern career focused women, the publication has been an important tool for propaganda directed at young females.
